The new professional soccer franchise owned and operated by the National Sports Center is looking for talented, motivated interns for the 2010 season. See below for specific job descriptions.

Media operations intern

Primary duties

Gathering player and staff bios. Writing team press kit. Main news release writer (total of approximately 100 over the course of the season.) Press box host for home games. Coordinate media interviews after games. Promote mainstream media coverage of the team. Facilitate media interviews of players and staff. Update season stats for team.  This position requires a working knowledge of soccer.

Secondary duties

Work with electronic media intern to generate content for website and social media. Coordinate player appearances. Manage fan club.

Internship term

March 15-May 15 (nine weeks): 25 hours per week
May 15-September 4 (16 weeks): 40 hours per week
September 4-October 23 (7 weeks): 20 hours per week

 

Website and social media marketing intern

Primary duties

Execute team’s social media and web-based marketing strategy. Generate content for website and social media. Drive usership of website, Facebook page and Twitter accounts. Generate contacts and support from blogging community. Track social media coverage of the team. Utilize social media to further team’s goals. Manage player community appearances. Manage fan club.  This position requires a working knowledge of soccer.

Secondary duties

Work with press operations intern to generate content for mainstream media. Substitute as press box host for home games.

Internship term

March 15-May 15 (nine weeks): 20 hours per week
May 15-September 4 (16 weeks): 40 hours per week
September 4-October 23 (7 weeks): 15 hours per week

 

Ticket Marketing and Sales Intern

The Ticket Marketing and Sales Intern will support the sales department in ticket sales programs and events, make outbound phone calls to potential and existing clients, complete ticket order fulfillment, and assist with the game day box office activities while gaining an understanding of the sales process in professional sports.

 

Equipment Manager Intern

We are looking for an individual interested in the overall operations of team equipment and gear.  This person will be responsible for daily laundering of training gear and game gear, organizing equipment as well as inventory control, packing for road trips, and locker room setup and breakdown.  On game days this person will also interact as team liaison for the visiting team and referees.  This person will work directly with players, coaches, and team staff.

March – October

Hours

Hours will vary from 30-40 per week based on team schedule.  Interns should be flexible with time, as many positions require event work in evenings and weekends.  All positions are available for course credit as approved by your institution.

Internship Compensation

All positions are a paid stipend based on $8-$10/hour commensurate of experience.
