TRACK AND FIELD CLUB

November 10, 2008 – March 6, 2009

3:45–5:45 pm, NSC Sports Hall

Program Overview

The NSC Track & Field Club is an advanced training program using the newest training theory and methodology. This program is geared toward the development of the high school athlete, but is also open to middle school, collegiate, and masters athletes. The National Sports Center Track and Field Program has been preparing athletes for their high school track seasons for the past 16 years. Year in and year out, the NSC Track and Field program helps to produce some of the best track and field athletes in the state of Minnesota. The NSC Track and Field athletes consistently produce over 20 All-State performances annually including winning between 5-15 individual/relay state championships.

The NSC Track and Field Program is very similar to an in-season track program but has the added advantage of not having to lose training days to competition. This program offers specialized coaching in sprints, distance, horizontal jumps, high jump, pole vault, throws, and hurdles. Athletes will go through an intensive daily warm-up and train with their event group.  This preseason training focuses on providing athletes with a solid base of speed and speed endurance as well as spending ample time fine tuning technique and form.

There is no other program in the state of Minnesota that will provide athletes with this type of comprehensive preseason training.

The NSC Track and Field Club annually produces over 20 all-state performances and multiple state champions.

Training sessions  will not take place on the following dates:

  • »  November 27-28, 2008
  • »  December 24-30, 2008; January 1, 2008

PROGRAM OPTIONS

5 Day/Week Program: Monday - Friday

This is the best training program available for the high school athlete who competes in multiple events. This format allows an athlete to focus on one area for three days a week while focusing on another area twice a week. Additionally an athlete may choose to focus on one event for five days using Monday, Wednesday, and Friday to load the nervous system and utilizing Tuesday and Thursday as active recovery days. The five day per week option offers the greatest number of training days and the most comprehensive training.

3 Day/Week Program: Monday, Wednesday, & Friday

The 3 day/week program will focus on strength and conditioning specific to each event. These three days will be used to load the nervous system, focusing on acceleration, speed, and speed endurance specific to your event.

2 Day/Week Program: Tuesday & Thursday OR Monday & Wednesday

This program is available for those athletes who may not be able to make it to the NSC three times a week. These two days will be used to load the nervous system as described above. Distance runners and throwers who choose the two day per week option are encouraged to attend on Monday/Wednesday as Tuesday/Thursday fills quickly.
