Happy Motivation Monday!
For an extra special edition of Motivation Monday, this week we are thanking all of the dads and father figures who support their athletes! We asked the staff at the National Sports Center the best advice they have ever gotten from their dad.
“My father always led by example. Before retiring, he had two jobs to provide for us. He got up at 5:00am to drive a cab until 8am, then work at another job until 6:00pm, then back to the cab until around 10:00pm. He taught me the importance of family and character. He did whatever was needed to provide me the opportunity to play sports, which allowed me the opportunity to come to the US and acquired two degrees.”

“My dad has always been one of my biggest supporters growing up and is my #1 fan. Whether we were at the rink for an early practice or late game, he was and still is always cheering me on from the sidelines. Even away from ice arena, he pushes me to be the best version of myself. His guidance and support are something I will never take for granted. I have been so lucky to have a dad that works extremely hard just so he can keep his kids happy.”

Grace Carlson, Content Creation Intern says that since she was young her dad has encouraged how the importance of dreaming is concurrent with the importance of hard work. Understanding the importance of both is what creates success.
Guest Players Intern Jenna Hill says that the best advice her dad always tells her is don’t be so hard on yourself.
Caroline Skoog, Multimedia Producer said the best advice from her dad is to always live in the moment.
Dorms Intern, Davor Jakovlijevic says that the best advice from his father is that life is full of tough moments, but that is where you learn the most.
Referee Intern Laura Scheper says the best advice she has gotten from her dad is to do what makes you happy.
Marketing Intern Alec Testerman says the best advice he has gotten from his dad is about his basketball career, he says to keep working hard and be yourself because it will pay off.
