Last weekend, Target USA CUP hosted its second qualifier tournament at the Regional Athletic Complex in Salt Lake City, Utah. Nestled within the Salt Lake Valley, the Wasatch mountains served as a breathtaking backdrop to three days of exciting soccer. 44 teams from throughout the region competed in the tournament, including teams from Idaho and Nevada. Champions of the Target USA CUP Utah Qualifier went home with Utah shaped trophies, medals and waived player fees to the Target USA CUP Weeklong event in July 2023.
Each team brought their a-game, and we were equally impressed with the degree of sportsmanship displayed by clubs at every level. Regardless of age, numerous matches ended with teams cheering the opposing club’s name, arranging a cheer tunnel for the opposing team to run through or players complimenting the skills of individuals on the other team.
Thank you to all the teams who joined us out west to compete in our second qualifier tournament. We hope to see you next July! We’re thrilled to broaden USA CUP’s horizons to teams from around the country, and we look forward to growing the USA CUP experience again in February 2023 for our USA CUP Texas Qualifier.
