Target USA CUP is excited to welcome back Speak Up, an initiative that aims to combat the stigma around mental health struggles in sports, specifically in young athletes. Speak Up is committed to fostering a supportive environment where athletes feel empowered to voice their mental health challenges.

The initiative will take place throughout the entirety of Target USA CUP, with Wednesday, July 19th, designated as Speak Up Day. Speak Up Day aims to spread awareness, provide educational opportunities, and build community to address the mental health stigma among young athletes. As part of building awareness, the Speak Up Street Team will roll out signage across campus and initiate giveaways. Additionally, the National Sports Center and Target USA CUP staff will be wearing green ribbons, the international symbol for mental health. Green symbolizes the continual awareness of mental health in order to help fight the stigma that is often associated with it. Make sure to wear green in support of mental health day on Speak Up Day!

Speak Up at Target USA CUP has partnered with the US Center for Mental Health and Sport (USC-MHS) to provide educational resources on campus. USC-MHS focuses on bringing mental health conversations to sport by promoting mental health and providing mental health awareness trainings. These mental health trainings and educational modules are available throughout the tournament to organizations, teams, parents, and events. Visit mentalhealthandsport.org to access these resources during Target USA CUP.
