We are beyond excited to welcome Esporte Clube Pinheiros back to Target USA CUP! Traveling all the way from São Paulo, Brazil, this club brought a whopping 111 players and 7 teams to compete at the weekend and week-long tournament.
Esporte Clube Pinheiros has been around since the 1890s, and it’s the oldest and largest club in Brazil! The club has over 39,000 members, and 1,000+ of them play soccer. The remaining members play a multitude of other sports including swimming, basketball, and more.
I had the opportunity to sit down and chat with Eduardo Vianna, a director of Esporte Clube Pinheiros. He has been with this organization for over 20 years, and his passion for soccer and this club is very admirable.
Esporte Clube Pinheiros has been coming to USA CUP for 10 years, and they have an impressive collection of trophies to show for it. Vianna stated that they’ve won over 30 trophies at USA CUP!
When asked what this club likes most about USA CUP, Vianna explained that this tournament is like no other that they’ve competed in. They love the atmosphere, great competition, and playing against other international teams.
Aside from competing, Vianna and the players are excited to take part in all of the USA CUP activities. They’re going to Minnesota United FC and Minnesota Lynx games, and they’re also visiting the Mall of America and Valleyfair.
