Today’s Faces of the Cup: Operations! This group goes up and down campus setting up, tearing down, and making sure everything is working and running smoothly.

Meet Chris, one of the operations interns! He’s from Southwest London and he is currently studying hospitality at Iowa State.

What did you expect from the internship?

“I expected to meet a lot of great people, which I have, be outdoors a lot and enjoy the sun, learn the basics, more advanced things about operations and administration, logistics, working with other people.”

How has your scheduled changed since USA CUP started?

There have been long days. Ivan and I, the two operations interns, have been alternating shifts. One of us starts at 5 am through 5 pm, while the other starts at 9 am and goes until 9 pm (or closing). Quite a few hours, but it is a lot of fun nonetheless.

What has your busiest day looked like?

Busiest day was definitely Opening Ceremonies. It was a 5 am start for that and then we worked until 11 pm. A lot of things to be done for that. We did get to watch the ceremonies as well, so it’s not all work, you do get to enjoy it as well.

A huge thanks to the operations team and everything they do around campus!
