Target USA CUP is more than happy to welcome Sport Academy to the National Sports Center campus for this year’s tournament!
Sport Academy is from Santiago, Chile which is over 5,600 miles away from Blaine, MN. They are bringing two teams (U16 & U19), 37 players, and 4 coaching staff.

What is your team most looking forward to at Target USA CUP?
“Here at Sport Academy, we hope that the experience we have at USA CUP will be a lifetime memory for both players and staff. The possibility to share this competition with participants from all over the world, play in one of the most important tournaments for youth football, and be the only representatives from Chile are reasons that maintain us extremely motivated to make an excellent first impression.”
How have you prepared for Target USA CUP 2023?
“During this first semester of the year, we have been primarily focusing on the technical and physical aspect of our players. We did this considering the weight of games and the potential tiredness that players will face after the accumulation of games. After months of intense planning and work, we can now say that we are ready to compete.”
What makes your team stand out from other teams? Is there a specific point of pride for your club?
“There are four pillars that characterize us. Passion, discipline, hardwork, and mental strength. These are all aspects that characterize a Sport Academy player. It’s crucial that our players are reminded of these pillars even outside of the pitch and that they never go against their values.”
What is one thing you would like to do while you are in Minnesota outside of playing soccer?
“All of the activities at USA CUP have a particular motivation that encourages us to participate. If we had to pick one specific activity, it would be the opening ceremony where we will be involved in a massive, multicultural event that we are sure is going to have an amazing atmosphere.”
