BLAINE, Minn., (July 1, 2019) — The National Sports Center (NSC) is excited to announce Target will be the title sponsor for the USA CUP youth soccer tournament, starting with the 2019 tournament as part of a multi-year partnership.

Target USA CUP will take place July 12-20 at the NSC, welcoming 1,152 teams from 22 states and 20 countries as it’s the largest youth soccer tournament in the country.

For the past 34 years, the tournament has welcomed teams from across the nation and the globe for this one-of-a-kind international youth soccer experience.

“We’re absolutely thrilled to sponsor USA CUP, as this partnership is yet another way we’re continuing to grow our commitment to soccer at all levels,” said William White, senior vice president of marketing, Target. “Soccer helps further connect Target with our guests and their families, and we’re proud to support the thousands of players who will participate in the tournament in our home state of Minnesota.”

Target’s support of youth soccer nationally includes offering an $8 million local soccer grant program, and building 100 new soccer play spaces by 2020 through a $6 million partnership with the U.S. Soccer Foundation. The company is also the official partner and jersey sponsor of Minnesota United FC, and an official partner of Major League Soccer.

During the tournament, Target will offer several free activities. Players, fans, families, and coaches will have the opportunity to test their soccer skills, be entertained and also relax throughout the NSC campus.

“The National Sports Center is beyond excited to welcome Target, a Minnesota-based company to be the title sponsor of USA CUP,” said NSC Executive Director Todd Johnson. “Target is such an integral part of Minnesota, which makes them a perfect partner. Their commitment to the community and to soccer, from youth to professionals, aligns with the National Sports Center’s goal to create an environment for soccer at all levels.”

The National Sports Center is also the home of the Minnesota United FC official training ground.

“We are ecstatic that one of our incredible partners – Target – has once again shown its dedication to growing the world’s game at all levels by becoming the title sponsor of the USA CUP,” said Minnesota United CEO Chris Wright. “USA CUP, hosted at the National Sports Center – our official training ground – is a global showcase for youth soccer right in our backyard and it’s wonderful to have three Minnesota-based organizations involved.”
