2023 Target usa cup featured team
Throughout Target USA Cup 2023, we will shine a spotlight numerous teams that embody the true meaning of USA Cup and the beautiful game of soccer. In our first feature, we’d like to welcome Surf Select 2011 Girls to Target USA Cup! This group of girls have been selected from across the United States, all of which had to tryout through their partner clubs.
What makes your team stand out from other teams? Is there a specific point of pride for your club?
“The Surf Select 2011 Girls team is a remarkable group that has gathered the most exceptional 2011 players from various Surf clubs nationwide. This team has been formed with the goal of competing at the highest levels possible, specifically in the Target USA CUP.”
Enrico, the Surf Select program coordinator, also shares what sets this select team apart from all others: “What sets our team apart is the incredible talent and dedication of the 17 girls on our roster. These talented individuals come from 7 different Surf Clubs, and they will come together for a week of intense training, competitive matches, and a shared experience. They will unite their skills and determination to represent Surf Nation to the best of their abilities on the field.”
Additionally, “This unique team dynamic allows these players to learn from each other, grow together, and create lasting connections beyond their individual clubs. They will undoubtedly leave a lasting impact and make us proud as they compete in Target USA CUP. “
How did you hear about Target USA CUP and what made you decide to apply?
“The reason why we decided to participate in the Target USA CUP is because it is a prestigious youth soccer tournament and well known across the youth soccer world elite. It is one of the largest soccer tournaments in the country and attracts teams from all over the United States and internationally. Participating in Target USA CUP can offer several benefits for our team such as: high level of competition, exposure to scouts and recruiters, it is a tournament where our players can develop and grow by competing against top competition.”
“The cultural exchange that our girls will be exposed to was another reason why we chose this tournament. All the off the field activities that the tournament offers. It is not only soccer, and on the field activities, but also what we can offer to our teams to come along during a week. And last but not least, the tournament organization – The Target USA CUP is organized by the National Sports Center, which is renowned for its excellent facilities, well-run events, and commitment to promoting youth sports.”
If you had to compare your team to any pro team, what would it be?
“The Surf Select 2011 Girls can only be compared to a National Team. This group of girls come from different parts of the country, different backgrounds, cities, and clubs. They all got selected to represent the Surf Select program because of their quality on the field, and their values off the field. These girls are the best of the best within Surf Nation, and we cannot wait to watch them compete at the highest level possible.”
